GREENVILLE MUSICIAN LAUNCHES NEW CD, WEB SITE
GREENVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 11, 2008) — Mike Hamer, a longtime Greenville musician and songwriter, will hold a CD release and web site launch party Sept. 19 for his latest album, “Finally Coming Home.” The performance, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Greenville’s Tipsy Teapot on Evans St, between 4th and 5th Sts., will feature several songs from the new album, as well as accompaniment by Greenville violist Nathan Maxwell. Maxwell’s new band, Grandmother Longlegs, will also play a set.
“There’s nothing quite like a good party to celebrate a new album,” Hamer said. “I’m excited to share my songs with the community, and to introduce Grandmother Longlegs to the Greenville music scene.” The release of “Finally Coming Home” will dovetail with the launch of Hamer’s new web site, http://mikehamer.net, and his Myspace web page, which features information about his label, Black Swamp Music, as well as selected tracks from several of his albums, including “Black Crow” and “Rhinos doing’ the Wild Thing.” Hamer received a Regional Artist Grant in March from the Rocky Mount Arts Council and the North Carolina Arts Council, to make his web page and digital presence a reality. The web page provides information on Hamer’s various musical projects – including his work with the Triangle-based roadhouse blues band, the Rhinoceroses, and his solo albums – as well as information about his wheelchair dancing documentary, “Shake, Rattle, and Roll,” and other cultural and social interests. Hamer said he was looking forward to establishing his web presence and to connecting with musicians, artists and friends on the web. “This is an exciting time for independent musicians,” Hamer said. “The digital Age is changing ways we learn about new music, and I think it can actually enhance the value of live performance.” For more information, visit http://www.myspace.com/mikehamermusic or call 252-830-0349 or send email to mk.hamer1@gmail.com |
